How Will YOU Lead in the New Year…and What Will Guide You?
As we come together (either physically or “in spirit”) to celebrate the Incarnation of our Lord (aka Christmas), we also close out what we can all agree has been an exceptionally challenging year. Further, many of us look to 2021 with either hope or great uncertainty…most likely a little bit of both.
The celebration of Christmas, even in these uniquely challenging times, still brings to mind the classical imagery of the Nativity. This includes the three wise men being led to the birthplace of Jesus by the Star of Bethlehem…a singular bright light in an ocean of darkness.
I cannot help but notice the parallel metaphors, as the English meaning of the Latin term Nos Lumine is “We are Light.” Jesus tells us, “You are the light of the world,” (Matthew 5:14 NAB). We must be that light in all aspects and roles in our lives…and helping you do this is our mission.
While we can never know for sure what the future brings, we do understand that we can influence that future by our own choices and actions. In your vocation as a business leader, as a family leader, and as a parishioner, every hour brings an opportunity to make right choices and take right actions. In doing so, you live out nos lumine…you are the light.
So as we celebrate the birth of Jesus with our families and loved ones, and we look to the beginning of a new year, we members of Nos Lumine look forward to being with you through whatever challenges and opportunities that new year brings. And we will aim to help each other keep our eyes fixated on the Light of Christ, moving in the right direction, and serving as a light for others.
May God bless you and yours during this Christmas season.
